Past productions

An impressive past, a confident future

With baited breath and crossed fingers, we raised the curtain on our first production back in 1978.

The seed from which NSO germinated was Breaky Bottom Opera. It presented The Beggar’s Opera, Dawnpath by Nicola LeFanu and Dido and Aeneas – in a barn at Breaky Bottom Vineyard, Rodmell, Lewes.

As our confidence and competence grew, we had the courage to present no less than 5 UK premieres. We’ve attracted fresh talent in many fields, from performing and conducting to direction and design. For everyone involved, each of those productions has been a rich and memorable experience; for many, it’s been a truly transformative one.
